**Benecio Del Toro. Has anyone ever heard him in an interview? Unintelligible snippets of 'something'? I don't know what you'd call it but he can't complete an entire sentence over 4 words. It's definitely not conversation.
Those in the list who speak multiple languages impress the daylights out of me. And who would have guessed James Franco was a math whiz? A stoner, yes.
**I think we can all agree that the Autistic character in the 1988 movie Rain Man brilliantly portrayed by Dustin Hoffman with Tom Cruise as the younger brother had a high I.Q. in Math and numbers. That is possible in real life...to be at genius level in one area and deficient in others.
**Okay, why of all the extremely talented black actors, do they choose Flavor Flav??? Seriously I am annoyed at Yahoo. There is Courtney B. Vance, black actor who plays on Criminal Intent, who has an undergraduate degree from Harvard and an MFA at Yale. Then Angela Bassett, very famous, graduated from Yale, they met at Yale and are married. Sanaa Lathan, another black actress, also graduated from Yale. Its bad enough to be a minority and then they only put one token black actor, but at least put one who represents better!!!!
**Steve Martin is also an accomplished musician who currently tours with a band featuring his virtuoso perfomances on his banjo... what else would you expect from Steve? A violin?
**A little annoyed people are calling out Flav. Because he doesn't fit the obvious mold these other stars fit he should not be included? Really? America apparently doesn't learn from its mistakes. You may not think Flav fits in for whatever reason. But he is definitely smart enough to keep a hold on his fortune unlike other "smart" people.
** Okay that's 35 of them....How do you explain the other good at their craft people who think their press clippings actually convert to the authority to preach to the rest of us who have to work for a living.... By the way they left a lot off that list, but its still 1000 to 1 with IQ's over 115...Reply
**It is also a bit sobering to know that in light of Sharon Stone's superior intelligence, the decidedly optimal career strategy was to show your hair pie on the big screen!
**Ashton Kutcher ANTICIPATED acceptances to both MIT and Purdue to study engineering. LMAO. Kutcher wasn't accepted at either school. Some of the people on this list have impressive backgrounds and degrees, but some of the names are actually quite funny.
**Look at all of these idiots trying to claim that they have more common sense. This is why this country is in so much trouble we look down on people that are educated and have high IQ's. Intelligence should be admired and respected. Attacking someone just because they are smarter than you is truly pathetic and shows a complete lack of integrity and intelligence.
**I think if they were so smart, they could have made a better contribution. However, they likely would not have made as much money as they do in acting.
**Meanwhile, back in Washington DC, people are tearing down the barricades to the memorials. War vets are "relocating them and stacking them in front of the White House. But Yahoo News wants you to focus on a bunch of celebrities...
**I know it's not Hollywood but Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, has a Ph.D in astrophysics.
**It's amazing how people define intelligence. What college you go to or how many degrees you have has little to do with intelligence. You'll see some of the dumbest people you'll ever meet in college.
**This is an expanded rehash of a story from about a month ago. IQ is an indicator, however many myths exist. The IQ today is different from IQ of 50 years ago. Consider this. Using a standard score of 100 and standard deviation of 15 (sometimes 16), the top 1% would be any IQ over 136. I would consider a genius as one who is proficient in all areas of human endeavors; Math, Language and Arts. Most tests only go to ~140.
**I agree with 'The Dude'; this article was more about celebrities who went to college at some point during their lives, but that fact doesn't necessarily make them geniuses now, does it? Also, Yahoo's list had several glaring omissions: Gena Davis, Sting, Neil DeGrasse-Tyson (also known as the Indiana Jones of astrophysics and who really is quite the colorful celebrity), and Machiu Kiku. At least Stephen Hawking got an honorable mention, but Flavor Flav? Are you frakkin' kidding me?! What's so intelligent about ditching classes to play with musical instruments? Did he even graduate? Oh wait ...... I really couldn't care less, but if you needed a token black person you could have easily used Dr. DeGrasse-Tyson instead of a ghetto thug-styled rapper. Seriously.
**When they talk about James Woods and his SAT scores, they have it wrong on their dates. The SAT verbal/math format and scoring of 1600 didn't change until 2005. Yahoo is doing articles on smart people while making themselves look dumb.
**Dropping out of school is likely the smartest thing most that did it could do. To not willingly take part in one's own brain washing and to refuse to follow what snotty self absorbed academia considers "the norm" shows above normal intelligence. Albert Einstein stated, "I succeeded in spite of my education, not because of it."
**Let's see, Charles Manson and Ted Bundy were also off the high side of the scale. And Cher dropped out of school after the 8 th grade. What the hell should we conclude from this drivel.
**Hey, aren't they going to put Kanye up on the list? Since he is a 'creative genius' and all. Might as well since you have flavor flav on here! lol
**I don't know English and Poli Sci? Those are very doable majors. I am not saying they are not smart, but most of us with unlimited financial resources and time could easily rack up a few degrees in the "arts". I double majored in Poli-Sci and Sociology while working full time and commuting home on the weekends. Does that make me a genius? Hardly. Doesn't make them geniuses either.
**Do you realize how many California State Universities there are? It would be nice to know which one Steve Martin attended. This is what happens when you get a yahoo blogger to write about anything intelligent.
**I know I sound bitter but if I could speak six languages, have an incredibly high IQ, I'll tell you this - I would not waste it on being an actor!
**People are miserable and ridiculous. You complain when Yahoo puts up fluff, self-agrandizing articles about celebrities This is an article about celebrities intellectual achievements and people still are complaining
**For the record, there are a variety of IQ tests that score IQ number differently. They use 100 as a baseline average, but depending upon how many standard deviations they use for how many points over and under that baseline, the resulting "IQ level" scored can vary greatly.
**When you compare the IQs of Matt Damon and Ashton Kutcher with their common sense, it's plain IQ isn't all it's cracked up to be. Oh, and the same goes double for Jerry Springer.
**Some of these are impressive... but some are ridiculous. Just because an actor signs up for school and attends a few classes doesn't make him brilliant.
